They are the street children who lead a miserable life with no access to luxury. The Children’s Park or the National Science and Technology Museum are not for them. They are likely to see these buildings from outside only. By changing such image, free museum visits and science exhibitions are organized for these poor and needy children including street children on Tuesday in a grand manner.
600 students from various institutions including Agargaon Government Primary School, Taltala Government Primary School, Swadesh Mrittika Bidyalay, Jamea Hossainia Madrasa, Alamnagar Madrasa and Prabhat Anand spent about 4 hours in the museum in a festive atmosphere.
The children gained knowledge along with pleasure by visiting various exhibits. The National Museum of Science and Technology introduces them to the fundamentals of science and the innovations in modern technology. These children cannot come to the Science Museum due to economic reasons. Considering the limitations of the institutional education system, the Science Museum took this initiative by realizing the necessity of hands-on knowledge acquisition.
The students coming from these institutions were excited to come to the museum while the officers and employees of the science museum at all levels work together with these children and teenagers.
In this context, Director General of National Science and Technology Museum Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, “It is not for any special class of citizens, rich and poor citizens of all walks of life have the right to come to the museum and quench their thirst for knowledge. Based on the principle of equality as stated in the Constitution, the Science Museum takes special measures for the backward people. It provides museum visits to street children and destitute and poor children. Scientists like Newton, Einstein or Stephen Hawkins can be born from this poor class of society. No one knows what talent is hidden in them. It is our duty to develop these talents.”
