25 young entrepreneurs took basic training to prepare themselves for Smart Bangladesh. They learned about human resource management, investment and pitching skill development, business scalability and global markets, laws and copyrights and patents necessary for running a business.
The workshop was held at the “Establishment of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Academy” project (iDEA) office of ICT Tower, Agargaon on Wednesday.
Information and Communication Technology Department Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam was present as the chief guest on the occasion. He said the journey of a startup is a difficult one. You have to work hard for success. Even if it fails, we should move forward with new enthusiasm. He explained about the foreign startup culture and said that the big advantage in Bangladesh is that the government has been helping from the very beginning. It can be said that a big startup culture is being created in Bangladesh. I believe that unicorn startups will be created in Bangladesh as well.
Ranjit Kumar, executive director of BCC as a special guest, said that startups are currently in demand in Bangladesh. Such training is very important for startups. He said that earlier, there were few opportunities but now Bangladesh government is creating many opportunities.
In the workshop, Idea Project Director (Joint Secretary) Md. Altaf Hossain highlighted the ongoing facilities provided by the government for startups.
He said, there are various opportunities for entrepreneurs including mentoring support, grant support, venture capital support through which a beautiful ecosystem has been created. These opportunities should be utilized properly by the youth. Such cooperation will continue for the welfare of startups through iDEA for Startups project.
The joint secretary also commented that the government is progressing properly in the implementation of the vision of the government to build a smart Bangladesh in 2041.
Under the direct guidance and supervision of the Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, iDEA Project has been working to create an innovation-supporting ecosystem and entrepreneurial culture under the ICT Division since 2016. Apart from enhancing the capacity of young innovators, iDEA is undertaking various activities to spread innovative ideas widely among the youth.
