The intelligence department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is teaching security techniques to women in the cyber world in a joint initiative of the Information Technology Department of the government and the Dhaka University IT Society (DUITS). First of all, about two thousand students of 5 student halls of Dhaka University, Eden and Government College of Applied Human Sciences are receiving this hands-on training. The program started from Eden College Auditorium on Sunday morning and will continue till November 8.
The speakers on the opening day were CTTC ADC Nazmul Islam, Dhaka University IT Society Founder President Abdullah Al Imran, Bangladesh Women in Technology Treasurer Barrister Nazmus Saleheen, Bangladesh Chhatra League Dhaka University Unit General Secretary Saddam Hossain and Star Computer Systems Managing Director Rezwana Khan.
In this workshop titled ‘Cyber Security Awareness for Women Empowerment’ conducted by Dhaka University IT Society President Nazmus Saqib, techniques for navigating safely through social media, explanation of related laws, ways to escape if attacked, specific methods of reporting complaints are being taught.
Under this program, apart from the two colleges of the capital, the students of Dhaka University’s Rokeya Hall, Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, Bangladesh Kuwait Maitri Hall and Shamsunnahar Hall will receive this training.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will attend the closing ceremony on November 8. DU Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman, DMP Intelligence Police Chief Harun Or Rashid, Channel Twenty Four Executive Director Talat Mamun will also be present.
