The second round of Zilla Parishad elections is due on Monday (October 17). Out of the 61 Zilla Parishad (District Councils) of the country, except for the three hill districts, voting will be held in 57 districts on that day. Recently, after monitoring the footage of the CCTV camera, the Election Commission of Gaibandha-5 constituency by-election was appalled, this time the cameras are being installed in 925 polling booths of 462 polling stations for the 57 Zilla Parishad polls.
This vote taken through electronic voting machine or EVM will be observed in Dhaka on Monday from 9 am to 2 pm.
Meanwhile, due to allegations of bias against the Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram, he has been changed and the Chattogram Regional Election Officer has been given the responsibility of the election. The Chattogram Regional Election Office has completed all preparations for the election. CCTV cameras are installed in every polling station and booth in this election. Election polling will be monitored through these cameras from Dhaka’s Election Commission Secretariat and Chattogram Regional Election Office.
It is known that from 9 am to 2 pm, continuous voting will be held in 30 booths of 15 Upazilas through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
In a circular, the EC said, in order to keep the CCTV and EVM machines functioning properly and for the voters to cast their votes properly, the concerned authorities have been informed for uninterrupted power supply to the Upazila headquarters of the polling station.
Chattogram Regional Election Officer and Zilla Parishad Election Returning Officer Muhammad Hasanuzzaman said, ‘All preparations have been completed for the Zilla Parishad elections to be conducted smoothly. Voting will be held in all centers through EVM. All centers will have adequate security perimeter. Monitoring will be done through CC cameras.
