More relief materials are being sent to flood-hit areas at the initiative of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications. State-owned Teletalk Bangladesh Limited and Bangladesh Cable Industries Limited are sending relief items to the affected areas.
To this end, 1000 packets of relief materials were handed over to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Mostafa Jabbar, on behalf of Teletalk. Managing director Md. Sahab Uddin handed over the packets on behalf of Teletalk at the Teletalk headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday (July 14). At the same time, another 300 packets of relief materials have been handed over by the Bangladesh Cable Industries Ltd. Mr. Md. Khalilur Rahman, Secretary of Post and Telecommunication Department was present at this time.
A total of 1,300 packets of relief materials collected from Teletalk and Bangladesh Cable Industries are being sent to Khaliajuri upazila of Netrokona district for distribution among the flood affected people. Each packet of relief items includes 4 kg of rice, 2 kg of potatoes, 1 kg of lentils, half a liter of soybean oil, two hundred and fifty grams of garlic and half a kg of salt.
Before this, 9 thousand 6 hundred 1 packets of relief materials were sent from BTCL, TSS and various other organizations under the initiative of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications. All these relief items sent on the initiative of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications were distributed among the villagers in Khaliajuri, Mohanganj and Madan in Netrakona district and Shalla in Sunamganj district. It may be noted that under the direction of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Mr. Mostafa Jabbar, distribution of relief has started in the flood-affected Haor areas. It may also is noteworthy that the Department of Telecommunication has set up a satellite hub in Haor areas besides operationalizing fixed phone, mobile network and emergency services. It has been informed by the department that the post and telecommunication department will keep working for the rehabilitation also for the flood victims.
