19 selected contestants from Bangladesh participated in the Global IT Challenge Program (GITC) 2021, an international competition on information technology for young people with disabilities. 4 contestants have brought honors for Bangladesh.
Among them, Roich Uddin Maruf (hearing impaired) won the Best Award (1st place) in e-Life Map category, Amit Sujauddin Turag (NDD) won Good Award (3rd place) in E-Tool Excel category, Winner Niyamur Rashid Shihab (Physically Handicapped) in e-Tool Excel category and Mehdi Hasan (Physically Handicapped) Winner in E-Life Map Category.
The main organizer of GITC is Rehabilitation International (RI) Korea. Myanmar was the host country of GITC-2021. But because of the Covid-19 it was not possible to organize it directly, so it was held online from Korea.
The selection process for this competition was completed through the Preliminary Round held on 16 June. A total of 20 people participated in the competition in accordance with the health rules in 6 regional offices of Bangladesh Computer Council including Dhaka head office and 19 people were selected for the final round. 600 contestants from 13 countries participated in the preliminary round. In the final round, 385 contestants from 13 countries participated in 4 categories (Physical, Vision, Speech and Hearing and NDD).
The final round included four types of competitions, namely: e-Tool PPT, e-Life Map Challenge, e-Tool Excel, and e-Content and e-Creative.
