Like other countries, we too are drafting an OTT policy. The policy will be issued in the form of a notification soon, said the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Hasan Mahmud.
He made the remarks while talking to reporters in the conference room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at noon on Monday (September 13).
The information minister said no approval is required now to release any content on the OTT platform. No approval is required to publish the play. Nor does it require approval to publish in the form of a web series.
“During my recent visit to India, I discussed the matter with the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, how they are taking care of the matter,” he said. They issued a policy in this regard last February. OTT platforms that are shown have to comply with this policy. Action is taken in case of violation of that policy. We too have already drafted the policy. We hope that the policy will be issued in the form of a notification soon.
The information minister said it was difficult to censor every content of the OTT. 50 or 100 movies are released in a year, they are easy to censor. But hundreds, thousands of contents are published in OTT every year, they are difficult to censor.
That is why we have drafted a policy the way it is being done in India and the way it is being done in other countries, we will issue it after further scrutiny. So that there is no content that misleads people.
“There is no content that can confuse or mislead our young people. With that in mind, we have drafted a policy.” he said.
