“This time road surveillance is being monitored with drones,” said Chief Additional Inspector General of Highway Police (Additional IGP) Shahabuddin Khan. Because of this, he commented that ‘Eid journey this year will be much safer and more comfortable than any previous year’.
He informed the matter while inspecting security and traffic management of Dhaka-Chattogram highway on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at Alekharchar Bishwaroad area of Cumilla section of Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Sunday, April 7.

During the inspection, the highway police chief told reporters, ‘We are trying our best from our position to make Eid journey safe. Also, we need the cooperation of public representatives. Passengers should also be careful. We never support risky Eid trips.’
He said, ‘Accidents increase a lot after Eid. Special measures have been taken to deal with that situation. Highways have speed guns and speedometers. Our goal is that people can celebrate Eid safely and comfortably.’
Pointing out that the level of traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway has reduced to a large extent, Shahabuddin Khan said, ‘highway police are working at every point to control the traffic congestion.’
He also said, ‘Dhaka-Chattogram highway is under constant surveillance. There are 1,427 CCTV cameras on this highway. We haven’t inaugurated it yet, but we are enjoying its benefits.’
