Tech giant Google has warned all Android and iPhone users about the security and privacy risks associated with using artificial intelligence. News NDTV.
Through Google’s Gemini App Privacy Hub blog, Google urges customers to refrain from giving out their confidential information during any conversation in the Gemini app.
Gemini Apps is like a supercharged Google Assistant. The blog says to customers, please don’t include your own confidential information or any data in your conversations that you don’t want a reviewer to see or for Google to use to improve its products, services and machine learning technology.
Google has also explained why one should avoid giving their personal information to the Gemini app. Once a conversation is reviewed, it stays there for a certain period of time, the tech giant said.
User conversations are not removed for up to three years. And those conversations may also contain confidential user information, Google said.
Customers are also told that your conversations and essential information such as your language, device type, your location or feedback are not removed even if you delete your Gemini app activity if a human reviewer has reviewed it.
A user’s conversations are stored in their account for up to 72 hours even after Gemini apps are inactive. Because it helps Google provide its services and generate any feedback. But this activity user will not see in their Gemini Apps activity.
Moreover, Gemini can be activated by voice activation without your knowledge. As Google explains in a blog post, saying something like ‘Hey Google’ can unknowingly activate Gemini.
