To prevent rumors, social media (Facebook, YouTube, etc.) will be closed for some time, said Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque.
He told reporters after the meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order at the secretariat on Sunday, March 31.
The minister said, they do not listen to our recommendations on various issues as their (social media) office is not located here for prevention of rumors and control of cybercrime. We will publicize what they are not listening to. If necessary, they will be closed for some time.
He said, we will properly notify the international organization first, they (social media) are continuing these crimes and rumors without taking our complaints into consideration and there is no initiative on their part.
The minister said, first they will be told repeatedly, if necessary, we will also tell them in the form of advertisements in newspapers. So that the international community does not think that, a fundamental right is being disturbed here.
He said, they are not investigating our complaints and not taking action. Informing the people of their indifference through public notices, if ever they are stopped the obligation should not fall on the government but on them.
