Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) has entered the era of high-speed broadband Internet GBon service in Barisal Division. State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated this service from Patuakhali Telephone Exchange Bhaban on Saturday, March 23 in the evening. Later, State Minister inspected the renovation work of the main post office building in Patuakhali.
The state minister said that the passive optical network will be the life line of BTCL. GBon will contribute fruitfully to keep BTCL alive, moving forward and making it a profitable company in the future.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, Bangladesh is a role model of development in the world today due to the brilliant and courageous plan of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the architect of Digital Bangladesh and the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Along this path, revolutionary changes have been initiated in the telecommunication and information technology sector in the country.
The state minister inaugurated the capacity prepared for GBon connection of 3 thousand in Patuakhali district of Barisal division; 5 thousand in Barisal district, 2 thousand 300 in Jhalkathi district, 2 thousand 300 in Pirojpur district, 3 thousand in Bhola district and 2 thousand 300 in Barguna district.
Earlier, on February 21, the Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology announced a special affordable package of BTCL’s internet bandwidth GBon in memory of language martyrs. Under this, the existing price of 5 Mbps has been reduced from Tk 500 to Tk 399. Now under this affordable package, 10 Mbps internet bandwidth is available for 500 taka.
