The employees of mobile operator Grameenphone celebrated the International Mother Language Day with their family members. On Wednesday in thecmorning at the temporary Shaheed Minar placed at the head office in Bashundhara, they paid their humble respect to the martyrs of all languages with their children. And through this, for the first time in a corporate office in the country, a temporary Shaheed Minar was installed to respect the martyrs of all languages under the leadership of a telecom union.
In the morning, with the significance of Language Day, the Amar Ekushey painting competition was held with the participation of workers’ children along with paying floral tributes to the language martyrs. The events were organized by Grameenphone Employees Union, CBA (GPEU) Reg: No-B-2001.
Two teachers from Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University were present as judges in the children’s drawing competition. They were: Abdullah Al Bashir and Jhotan Chandra Roy, Lecturers of the Printmaking Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
Grameenphone Employees Union President Fazlul Haque presided over the prize distribution ceremony while the GPEU General Secretary Matuz Ali Qaderi was in charge of overall supervision.
GPEU Joint General Secretary Imrul Kayes and GPHouse Committee President Mazharul Islam together conducted the event. In the ceremony, awards were given to six little artists. The winning artists are-
