Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mr. Mustafa Jabbar said that for implementing Smart Bangladesh, every person in the country should be brought under internet connection. Following the successful implementation of the Digital Bangladesh program, we have gained the ability to participate in the fourth or fifth industrial revolution parallel to the developed world. Smart connectivity is essential to meet the challenge of a smart Bangladesh. To achieve this goal, not even an inch of the country will be out of reach of high speed internet connection.
The minister committed so while addressing as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the session on the need for internet to empower all the people of Bangladesh organized by Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum-BIGF at BTRC Auditorium in Agargaon, the capital’s administrative area on Thursday.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister highlighted the need for innovation and research in the telecommunication technology sector for a smart Bangladesh and said that our biggest problem is human resources with digital skills. Implementation of Smart Bangladesh will be accelerated if proper investment is made in research and development of telecommunication sector.
BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikdar, Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Senior Secretary KM Abdus Salam, AMTOB General Secretary Lt Col (Retd) Mohammad Zulfikar, Journalist Rashed Mehdi and BIGF Secretary General Mohammad Abdul Haque Anu spoke on the occasion.
The program was moderated by AHM Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication.
Speakers mentioned that sustainable internet is essential to establish a happy and prosperous Bangladesh. Emphasizing the need to create suitable human resources for the digital era, the speakers in the program expressed their views on the various initiatives of the government in the development of the Internet and what more can be done to increase the speed and accessibility of the Internet.
