Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has handed over a renewed NTTN license for a period of 15 years to Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN) operator Fiber at Home. Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed, chairman of the commission, handed over the license at the BTRC building in Agargaon of the capital on Thursday. Brigadier General (Retd) Md. Rafiqur Rahman, Managing Director of the organization, accepted the renewed license on behalf of Fiber@Home.
Vice-Chairman of the Commission Md. Aminul Haque, Commissioner of Spectrum Division Sheikh Riaz Ahmed, Commissioner of Systems and Services Division Md. Delwar Hossain, Director General of Legal and Licensing Division Ashish Kumar Kundu and other officials of BTRC and the organization were present in the license handing over ceremony.
It may be recalled that, NTTN licenses have already been granted to 6 institutions including 3 government and 3 private institutions from the commission. Fiber@Home Limited was the first among the private companies to get a license from BTRC on January 7, 2009 for 15 years. The company’s license was valid till January 6, 2024. Later, in view of the application for renewal on 12 November 2023 on behalf of the institution, subject to the prior approval of the government, the license of NTTN has been renewed from 7 January 2024 for the next 15 years from the Commission.
