Project (iDEA) entitled “Establishment of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Academy” run by Bangladesh Computer Council under Information and Communication Technology Department is going to start special training program for startup founders at different levels. A total of 90 entrepreneurs will be given this training in 3 certificate courses under the training program titled iDEAa Academy June-24 Cohort. Sessions and other activities of these academic courses organized with the overall cooperation of Startup Bangladesh Limited and Student to Startup Ventures Limited will be held from May 12 to June 13 at the iDEA Project Office of ICT Tower, Agargaon. The courses will be fully funded by the government.
The three courses for the iDEA Academy June-24 cohort are: Value System 101, an 8-session 20-credit course on ideation and business models for young people who do not have a business idea of their own but are interested in entrepreneurship; 12 sessions of 30 credits Basics of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Startup course Ideas Basics 101 for those who have their own business idea but want to learn how to take it to the next level; Startup 301 is a 12-session 30-credit course on Startup Legislation, Documentation, Finance, Accounting and Unit Economics for entrepreneurs who are already working on a startup of their own and have received pre-seed funding from Idea Project.
Since 2016, iDEA Project has been working on creating an innovation-supporting ecosystem and entrepreneurial culture. The project started to establish this Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Academy (iDEA) to provide training, coaching, mentoring, etc. as well as financial and technical support to the youth, university students, startup founders, etc. at various levels of innovation and entrepreneurship across the country.
More than 385 startups have been given Tk 10 lakhs in pre-seed stage and more than 2000 women entrepreneurs have been given grants of Tk 50 thousand each. Also, there is an equity investment opportunity of up to 5 crore taka per round from Startup Bangladesh Limited Company. Apart from this, various coaching, training, mentoring and networking facilities are provided to early-stage startups from iDEA Project. Meanwhile, the process of establishing it as an academy by approving the Idea Act and sustaining all the facilities of the Idea project for entrepreneurs is underway. About 2,500 startups in the country have created about 1.5 lakh jobs and received about $1 billion in investment over the past decade. In addition to this, they are playing an important role in the economic development of the country both directly and indirectly.
