Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) former Managing Director (Additional Charge) and Hope (Head of Procuring NTT) of 5G optical fiber transmission network development project Asaduzzaman Asaduzzaman Chowdhury has been suspended by the High Court for six months.
The High Court bench comprising of Justice KM Kamrul Quader and Justice Khizir Hayat gave this order on Monday after hearing the complaint filed in the High Court regarding the dismissal. The order has also suspended the proceedings against Asaduzzaman Chowdhury for canceling the tender for the project titled ‘Optical Fiber Transmission Network Development of BTCL for utilization of 5G’ under BTCL.
The Department of Posts and Telecommunications issued a notification on November 7 suspending Asaduzzaman Chowdhury for ‘misconduct’. November 8 was the deadline to file charges against him for ‘irregularly’ canceling the tender against a package of the project. Asaduzzaman Chowdhury appealed to the High Court regarding the validity of these two decisions. The lawyer Md. Sakhawat Hossain heard on behalf of him in the court.
