A bilateral meeting was held today between the Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak and the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen at the office of the Minister of State at IC Tower, Agargaon.
The ICT State Minister said, ‘China is Bangladesh’s largest bilateral development partner and an important country for trade and investment’.
He presented the implementation of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ and the overall progress of the information technology sector and the development of Smart Bangladesh to the diplomats based on the 4 pillars of Smart Citizen, Smart Government, Smart Economy and Smart Society by 2041. He called for cooperation and working together with friendly China in building Smart Bangladesh.
The Minister of State laid importance on the creation of IT connect platform for B2B match making and exchange of experience between the two countries. He requested the Chinese ambassador to take up the Smart City pilot project.
The Chinese ambassador said that the economy of Bangladesh is strong and the ICT sector is ahead of many countries in the world. He expressed the hope of working with Bangladesh in the coming days in the development of the information technology sector, including the construction of Smart Bangladesh.
Later, the Ambassador was apprised of the latest developments in the ICT sector through a power point presentation in the meeting room of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology.
Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Ranjit Kumar, Director General of Information and Communication Technology Directorate Mustafa Kamal and related officials of the department were also present at this time.
