The Mobile World Congress 2023 concluded in Barcelona, Spain, with calls to join the march of 5G and the data-driven economy. This biggest event of mobile phone technology will be held again from 26 to 29 February 2024.
On the closing day of this year’s conference, March 2, the GSMA report was released as usual. The chairman of the organizing company, Jose Maria Alvarez Palet Lopez, said that 5G will become the most influential technology in the world by 2029. And by 2030, 85 percent of the world’s people will be connected.
He said that by 2023, the global 5G connection will reach 1.5 billion and by 2030, this connection will be at least 5 billion. 5G will add another US$1 trillion to the global economy by 2030 and will engage every sector. 5G will contribute the most in civil services and industrial manufacturing sectors in particular. Overall, the contribution of the telecommunications sector to the global economy will exceed 6 trillion US dollars by 2030.
The four-day event started on February 27. At the fair, the French multinational company Thales has shown the technology of buying SIM cards for mobile phone connection directly from the automated teller machine. Xiaomi came with bionic robot. This bionic quadruped robot called CyberOne is made by CyberDog.
On the last day, Apple iPhone 14 Pro was given the “Best Smartphone” award. The Google Pixel 7 Pro, the Nothing Phone and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Fold Four were in the list of the Glomo prizes. In this year’s conference, T-Mobile has tied up with SpaceX. MediaTek Announces Satellite Data Integration in Future Chips Google’s Tensor chip, Qualcomm Snapdragon and Sony’s IMX989 camera sensor were awarded at the conference.
The “Best in Show” award in satellite communications was awarded to the Motorola Defy Satellite Link Bullet. The MediaTek silicon-based device can interface with smartphones using Bluetooth to send small messages in cloud-free skies.
