Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “Those of you who are going to start a new journey today with the dream of becoming an engineer, you are undoubtedly lucky. You should be enlightened people inspired by non-sectarian, progressive thinking and modern mentality. We have to establish ourselves as skilled human resources of the country. Our Honorable Prime Minister has set a specific vision for the nation over a period of time. Likewise, I have set a vision for today’s new students to emerge as engineers by 2026. Hopefully, it will be possible through your sincere cooperation in academic activities.”
Today, Thursday (March 29, 2022) in the basketball field adjacent to the round-about of the university, he expressed such expectation while speaking as the chief guest at the orientation program of the students of the undergraduate course level-1 (’21 batch) of the academic year 2021-22.
Director of Student Welfare Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim presided over the program. Professor Dr. Sunil Dhar, Dean of Engineering and Technology Faculty spoke on Inspiring Speech as a special guest. Professor Dr. Md. Moinul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering spoke regarding Academic Ordinance and Rules & Examination Ordinance and Rules. Professor Dr. Mohammad Moshiul Haque Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Technology spoke on Research Collaboration, Industry and University Interaction. Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Dean of Faculty of Architecture and Planning spoke on Campus Living Rules and General Rules.
The Dean and Registrar (Additional Duty) of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Professor Dr.Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir gave a welcome speech. Student Discipline Rules (General) in the program; Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, the Director of Student Welfare addressed the Hall Accommodation and Hall Discipline Rules and Extra Curricular Activities.
While speaking as the chief guest, the CUET VC said that the academic syllabus of CUET has been formulated to suit the global market. Outcome Based Curriculum (OBE) education program is being started from the new academic year. University is a research center. From here new knowledge will be created and researched. The university is equipped with academic environment and state-of-the-art laboratories.
He said, “As per the announcement made by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, numerous incubation centers across the country has been established to create opportunities for entrepreneurship instead of looking for jobs. In the “Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator of CUET, you will get an opportunity to become an entrepreneur by creating new startups with ideas and innovations. You will be the future tool in building Smart Bangladesh by 2041. I am telling the parents, you will look for the child. Keep in regular contact with teachers.”
The program was jointly conducted by Dr. Sampad Ghosh, Associate Professor of CUET’s electrical and electronic technology department and Assistant Professor Dr. Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury of the same department, Assistant Professor of Humanities Department Nahida Sultana and Deputy Director Mr. Mohammad Fazlur Rahman. On behalf of the new students Ankan Dey rom the department of Mechanics and Industrial Engineering and Ishrat Jahan Bushra expressed their feelings. At the end of the orientation program, the introductory session of the students in their respective departments took place and the activities of the residential halls became completed.
