‘Safestep’ mobile application has been developed with the aim of expanding safe, systematic and reliable foreign employment of Bangladeshi citizens in Gulf-based countries. Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, officially inaugurated this app at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Sunday (November 20).
Mahjabin Khaled, Secretary General of Immigration and Development Parliamentary Caucus, Member of Parliament Aroma Dutta, BMET Director General Shahidul Alam, BOESEL Managing Director Dr. Mallik Anwar Hossain, Executive Director of RAMRU Prof. CR Abrar, Country Representative of Winrock International Dr. Mezbahul Alam and others were present in the launching ceremony.
It was informed that ‘Safestep’ mobile app will provide proper guidance in the field of foreign employment. Through this, you will know what is required to get employment in foreign employment and to work successfully. Bangladeshi workers who are looking for jobs abroad and who are already employed abroad—it will connect them with employers in a virtual network. Through its online helpline, redress or assistance can be sought in case of fraud in overseas recruitment or in danger at the workplace.
The app has been developed with the support of Global Fund Two and Modern Slavery-GF&MS, Diginex Solutions, UKAID, Refugee and Migratory Research Movement Unit (RAMRU) and WINROCK International. The purpose of the app is to empower Bangladeshi migrant workers to get jobs abroad by providing necessary information and education, and to make their overseas recruitment and employment experience safe, transparent and fair.
