This is ‘World Youth Day’ today. The day is being celebrated today throughout the country with the objective of ‘Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh, a developed country of trained youth’. Greeting the youth on the occasion of the day, the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers Association has called upon the youth to come forward to prevent the abuse of technology and create a skilled tech-savvy generation.
In a statement sent to the media, the president of the organization, Mohiuddin Ahmed, said that in order to build the Sonar Bangla of Bangabandhu’s dream in the coming days, the youth must be skilled and tech-friendly. Besides, the youth should come forward to stop its misuse. Currently, about 75 percent of the youth in the country are using smartphones and internet. Remaining 25 percent of working class and lower class are using feature phones. To face the fourth industrial revolution in the future, the youth and working youth communities have no choice but to be skilled in technology.
It is very sad to see a large portion of youth abuse or misuse technology instead of using technology for positive purposes. To make the next Sonar Bangla, the golden Bengal and prosperous Bangladesh, the government and all stakeholders should come forward to educate the youth society to stop misuse and turning technology a source of income.
Misuse of technology is costing many lives as well as causing chaos in families which has become a means of excess spending and money laundering abroad. Money laundering is happening through various games and apps operated illegally from abroad. And some young people are earning money from abroad as freelancers even from the marginal level. So, if technology can be used correctly and safely, as well as everyone can be made aware of the issue of cyber attacks, it is really possible to build the Sonar Bangla of Bangabandhu’s dream with the help of this youth.
