2 more Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) of modern technology have been added to the Naval Aviation of Bangladesh Navy to protect the sea border of the country. With this, a total of 4 Maritime Patrol Aircraft in the Naval Aviation MPA Squadron of the Navy started operational activities.
According to information received from ISPR, the two MPAs have mission management systems with modern technology and communication systems that establish communication with ships and submarines.
These MPAs will act as command platforms for round-the-clock monitoring of the country’s maritime boundaries, protecting the blue economy and preventing any illegal incursions. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially unveiled the addition of MPA 2 in the Navy and the nameplate as per the Navy tradition on Sunday (October 30) in a video teleconference from The Ganabhaban. Meanwhile, the head of government expressed relief that digital technology has speeded up the work of the government.
Earlier, Navy chief Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal expressed gratitude for the three-dimensional development of the forces while welcoming the Prime Minister. Guard of Honor was given to the Prime Minister by a brilliant team of Naval Aviation.
Among others, PSO of Naval Headquarters, regional commanders of Chittagong and other naval regions, prominent persons including freedom fighter naval commandos and senior military and civilian officials were present on the occasion.
According to the documentary images shown at the event, the new Maritime Patrol Aircraft 2 is equipped with surveillance radar, electra optic infrared camera, tactical data link and search and rescue detection finder for conducting deep sea surveillance.
Equipped with modern sensors and mission equipment, the new 2 Dornier 228 ng maritime patrol aircraft are capable of a maximum speed of 223 nautical miles per hour. Besides, those two maritime patrol aircraft can easily monitor our entire exclusive economic zone by flying continuously for about 5 hours.
