Election Commissioner (EC) Ahsan Habib Khan said that CC cameras will be used in all future elections. Stating that the CC cameras in the polling field act as enemies for miscreants, but these act as allies for those who are good. We will use CC cameras in all future elections, he said.
On Monday (October 24), he expressed this message in response to questions from reporters at his office in the capital’s Agargaon Nirbachon Bhabon (Election Building).
Ahsan Habib said, ‘Everyone knows the results we got by using CC (Closed Circuit) cameras and Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). How much transparency has it brought; we got benefits in Cumilla City, in Zilla Parishad elections. I will also use it in the upcoming municipal elections.’
Those with ulterior motives avoid CCTV cameras, he said, adding that some feel CCTV is destroying privacy. In front of the houses, on the streets, Cameras are everywhere. CC cameras act as an enemy to those who are miscreants. And acts as an ally of those who are good.
Ahsan Habib said, I will use CC cameras in every election in the future. Local elections, national elections and by-elections; we were never under pressure. Truly independently conducting all activities.’
He also said that CC cameras will be used in the national elections subject to budget availability.
He said, “I want to get the same benefits in the future as I have in the past. We are not here to take exams. I want to gift a good selection”.
In response to a question, this commissioner said, ‘The related investigation committee has investigated the irregularities in the Gaibandha-5 by-election. They are compiling. They asked for time (three days) for a very big reason. The commission may give time.
