State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the journey of Startup Bangladesh started under the guidance of Information and Technology Advisor to the Honorable Prime Minister Sajeeb Wazed Joy. Startup Bangladesh will invest 500 crore Taka among startups of the country. Startup Bangladesh has already invested more than 50 crore Taka. By 2025, we expect the entire 500 crore taka to be invested in startups.
The state minister informed it in his speech as the Chief Guest at the ceremony announcing the investment of Tk. 5 crore to ShareTrip on behalf of Bangladesh startup at Hotel Sheraton, Dhaka in the capital on Sunday (August 7).
Meanwhile, ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed his optimism that Bangladesh OTA ShareTrip will become a world-class travel agency, expressing satisfaction with the rapid growth.
He also said that ShareTrip has established itself as a successful startup by occupying 15 percent of the country’s OTA market. I hope ShareTrip will gain more reputation as a successful travel agency internationally.
Praising ShareTrip co-founder Sadia Haque and founder Kashef Rahman, he said, “I hope that the Japanese friend Marubini will invest more in the third phase considering the potential of ShareTrip.” In this way, Startup Bangladesh will support successful and talented startup founders like Sadia and Ashef in every possible way. As a part of this, they have been invested 5 crore Taka today.
He further said “We have only explored about 20 percent of the travel market industry in Bangladesh while about 80 percent of this potential market remains unexplored. Foreigners and tourists are unaware of these beautiful destinations. I hope that with the growth of ShareTrip and Startup Bangladesh, the tourism industry in this country will grow as well at the same pace. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina established Startup Bangladesh, a Venture Capital company, with the advice of the architect of Digital Bangladesh, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT affairs adviser to the honorable Prime Minister. Under this ‘Digital Bangladesh’ vision, we are creating the Startup ecosystem in Bangladesh. We have a plan to allocate 500 crores to our Startups. We hope that together, we can keep nurturing the future potential unicorns of Bangladesh.”
