State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has urged not to use technology like online social media Facebook for anti-national or religious incitement. He said, use Facebook like Women and E-commerce (WE) not in any conspiracy.
He made this call while addressing a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of Natore IT/Hi-Tech Park at Singra Upazila Parishad Auditorium of Natore on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the state minister expressed his desire to launch a training program in the existing project with the aim of creating at least one thousand women e-commerce entrepreneurs in every hi-tech park of the country.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has turned the country into Digital Bangladesh in the last 13 years with integrity, courage and foresight. In the speech of the chief guest, he also said that 650,000 freelancers have been created in the country as a result of taking various effective steps in the ICT sector under the supervision of ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy. Employment of 20 lakh youths has been created in IT/ITS sector. Currently from this sector $1.4 billion is being added in revenue. Young freelancers of the country are earning foreign currency from home. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has created opportunities for people of all communities to use their talents. In view of this some students of Natore have been able to design a boating to bring soil from Mars.
Explaining how quality resources will be created in the country and remittances will increase through Hi-Tech Park, Palak said, now many young people of our country go to Europe or America or the Middle East to drive cars or work in hotels. But by training in these parks, we will make them skilled in such a way that they can make car software sitting here rather than driving. They will make management software instead of a working as hotel servers in ‘London-America’.
He also said, I did not have the opportunity to go to university. But in the last 13 years, Joy Vai has taught me hands-on lessons. As a result, I am getting an opportunity to work with wise people. But if I had been born in Boston instead of Chalan Bill, I could have gone to Harvard or Boston and become a scientist instead of a politician.
The ICT state minister said that the government is working through hi-tech parks to provide that opportunity.
Speaking as the guest of honor on the occasion, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mr. Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy said that this hi-tech park will play an outstanding role in creating skilled human resources. He said the relationship between Bangladesh and India will be more developed and the relationship will be further stronger. He expressed his strong conviction to work seriously on increasing partnership with Bangladesh in ICT sector and other sectors as well.
He commented that in the near future, India will expand its cooperation in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority’s Managing Director Dr. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Natore District Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed, Project Director Fazlul Haque and others shared their views on the occasion.
At the end of the speaking session, 11 young people who made a special contribution to freelancing locally were given a laptop each.
