The PUBG game competition PMCL A10 LAN event was held illegally at Tasneem Noor Community Center in Daulatdia, a suburb of Chuadanga district. Wednesday was the final round of this competition. Based on secret information, the local police raided the event and arrested 108 people including the organizer.
The mobile court has sentenced 24 of the arrested persons to two days’ imprisonment without labor. And minor participants (under 18 years of age) have been handed over to their parents by the police.
Regarding this, Mahbub Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station, said that the surprising thing is that players have come from as far away as Cox’s Bazar to participate in this competition. If there is no financial interest in the game, they should not have been here. But all of them are internet based. So we could not catch any of their financial transactions.
The mobile court judge and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi officer Shamim Bhuian said that the youth is getting addicted to gambling through the mobile game PUBG. 108 people were arrested while playing PUBG this afternoon. Later, 24 adults were sentenced to 2 days of imprisonment without labor by the mobile court. And the rest will be released on bond from the guardians. For now they will be in police custody.
And Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Alimuzzaman said that the owner of the house of the tournament will be interrogated and brought under the law for cooperation in illegal activities.
