As of June 26, the 2021-22 RADP implementation rate of the Posts and Telecommunications Division is 96.15 percent. This information was conveyed at the RADP implementation meeting for the fiscal year 2021-2022 chaired by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mr. Mostafa Jabbar on Wednesday (June 29). On this day, the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) of the Heads of Departments and Agencies under the Posts and Telecommunications Division was signed. On behalf of the ten departments and agencies under the division, their respective organizations signed the main agreement and Secretary Mr. Md. Khalilur Rahman signed the agreement on behalf of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
Mostafa Jabbar, the chief guest at the signing ceremony held at the conference room of the Posts and Telecommunications Division said, “The Annual Performance Agreement (APA) is a unique initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. ‘Honorable Prime Minister dreams, make us dream and realizes dreams.’
“The APA is the foundation for us to move forward from backwardness,” he said. As a soldier of the Prime Minister, we should be dedicated to fulfilling her dream. Addressing the heads of his subordinate departments and agencies, the minister said, “You have to focus on the implementation of the agreement you have made. Signing the agreement means trying to keep the promise. And not implementing means failing ‘.
“We need to keep in mind that there are some contingencies in the recent floods that were not in the APA agreement last year,” he said. It is essential to be able to deal with any emergency situation efficiently. The Minister appreciated the role of the concerned organizations including Bangladesh Satellite Company, Teletalk and BTCL in keeping the internet and telecommunication network operational in the areas affected by the recent floods.
The Minister expressed hope that the success of this sector will continue in the days to come. He also instructed to implement the agreement properly.
It was informed on the occasion that in the financial year 2021-22, BTRC, Postal Department, BTCL, Teletalk, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited, Telephone Industry Company, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited, Bangladesh Cable Industry Limited and 14 other projects under the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, A total of Tk 845.51 crore was allocated including financing. The estimated expenditure is Tk 498.69 crore for GoB, Tk 300 crore for project assistance and Tk 55.82 crore for self-financing.
Speaking on the occasion, Md. Khalilur Rahman said, “We have to work with the commitment to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to the country and the people with sincerity.” He shared his experience and said that an officer can change an organization if he wants.
