The third meeting of the Digital Bangladesh Task-force was held at Ganobhaban on April 7 after long seven years. This time the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the chairperson of the Task-force, used the ‘Walton’ laptop, made in Bangladesh instead of imported laptop while conducting the meeting.
Walton’s Core i7 (MX7) Tamarind laptop was given as a gift to the 39 members present in the task-force meeting. Ministers, secretaries as well as business leaders present also received this gift. Among the business leaders on the list, only Bangladesh Computer Association president Subrata Sarkar was absent from the meeting.
Although the gift was quite a ‘surprising’ one, but it will take the country’s ‘Made in Bangladesh’ adventure to a unique height, remarked ISPAB President Imdadul Haque.
“It’s a very precious gift to me,” said Shomi Kaisar, president of e-Cab. In this gift I get the fragrance of my existence.
FBCCI President Md. Jasim Uddin also received this gift as a member of the meeting.
The heads of computer departments of Dhaka University and BUET also received the same gift.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister encouraged the domestic technology manufacturers to use Walton laptops, a technology product manufactured in the country, and also announced the vision ‘Smart Bangladesh’.
