The demand for electric vehicles is growing worldwide. The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), an association of automobile dealers in India, informed that the sales of the vehicles had tripled in the last financial year.
According to the FADA, a total of 4 lakh 29 thousand 217 units of electric vehicles were sold in the fiscal year 2021-22, which was 1 lakh 34 thousand 821 units in the fiscal year 2020-21. The FADA has collected data from 1,397 of the country’s 1,605 regional transport offices. Information about the sale of the car was obtained from there.
According to the FADA, the number of applications for registration for electric vehicles has doubled since the previous fiscal year.
Tata Motors, the country’s leading automaker, is leading the way in selling electric cars. The company has sold 15,198 units of EV in the fiscal year 2021-22. During this time MG Motors India sold 2,045 units, the second highest in the Indian market.
Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai Motor India are placed in the third and fourth positions respectively. In the last financial year, the two companies have sold 156 and 128 units of electric vehicles.
