This year, the global expenditure of the Information Technology (IT) sector will exceed 4.4 trillion dollars. Although there are various issues including global inflation, geopolitical instability and lack of skilled manpower, this expenditure will increase. This information has been published in a recent forecast of the research institute Gartner.
John David Lovelock, Gartner’s vice president of research, said this year will be one of the busiest for companies’ chief IT executives. Since the beginning of 2020, various organizations have been increasing their investments in the IT sector. They have come to understand the technological solution to the problem in various global situations, including the Covid-19 pandemic. This will be followed by investment and procurement in the IT sector this year to ensure analysis, cloud computing, uninterrupted customer service and security.
Over the past two years, the impact of inflation on the IT hardware market has begun to wane, Gartner reports. At present this effect is spreading in the software and service sector. Due to the shortage of skilled workers in this sector, various organizations are hiring workers with higher salaries. As a result, technology service providers are increasing their value. In this context, it is helping to increase the expenditure of this sector between 2022 and 2023.
By the end of this year, the cost of the software sector is expected to increase by 9.8 percent to reach 67.49 billion dollars. Besides, the cost of information technology services will increase by 6.8 percent and will exceed 1.3 trillion dollars. Gartner expects digital business ventures to double the number of investments in the enterprise application and infrastructure software sector by 2023.
