Foxconn Technology Group, one of Apple’s suppliers, is in talks to set up a factory in Saudi Arabia. The factory will produce $ 9 billion worth of microchips, electric car parts and other electronics products. Reuters quoted the Wall Street Journal as saying.
According to the report, Saudi Arabia is reviewing Foxconn’s proposal. It is proposed to build this dual-line semiconductor factory in Niome, an IT city in Saudi Arabia.
Neither Foxconn nor Saudi officials immediately commented anything on the issue.
Foxconn, Apple’s largest supplier, has expanded its business, including electric cars and semiconductors, in recent years. Other companies, including Foxconn and TCMC, are trying to diversify their production due to the trade war between the United States and China, which is affecting the semiconductor sector.
Foxconn is discussing similar projects with Saudi Arabia as well as the United Arab Emirates.
