Women are moving forward in various fields. Overcoming various social barriers, women are now changing the society, as women entrepreneurs women are flying planes and climbing mountains. On International Women’s Day, all those featured women were awarded the Nibedita Equalizer Award. As the chief guest at the event, Planning Minister Muhammad Abdul Mannan said, ‘Women are moving forward. They have to take the efforts of everyone starting from the government to move forward in all fields. Development of women means the development of the country.’
Entrepreneur Sonia Bashir Kabir, as the keynote speaker, said, “Technology has changed everyone’s life. Bangladeshi women are now taking the lead through education and technology. Women will play a more pioneering role in meeting the challenges of the future.” Nahid Ezahar Khan, MP and Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park Authority Bikarna Kumar Ghosh were special guests at the award ceremony held in Dhaka recently (March 11). Nibedita Women Community has honored the enlightened women. Bangladesh High-Tech Park Authority and Daily Star collaborated in organizing the award in collaboration with Daraj Bangladesh.
Honorary mementos were given to 7 special women who have played a socially important role. Birangana Mosammat Nurjahan Begum, Dr. Nuzhat Chowdhury, wife of martyred intellectual Dr. Alim Chowdhury, police officer Mahfuza Liza, social worker Tahsin Bahar Soochana, news caster Dr. Nabanita Chakraborty, researcher Irene Khan and physician Dr. Tahera Nazreen were given a memento of honor. Irene Khan, founder and social researcher at the I CAN Foundation, said, “Women are now working in a multidisciplinary field. Technology is changing our lives. Women are working in all fields of knowledge and science. The role of women in solving various problems of the society is important even after social constraints. It is very important to present the story of women’s advancement to all.’
In addition, 9 young women were given honorary recognition. It is to be mentioned that Nibedita has been working for the socio-economic development and progress of women since 2018. Anika Islam is leading the organization. Nibedita’s goal is to ensure women’s empowerment through various skills, lifestyle changes through technology.
