In order to develop digital skills, 555 Joy D-Set Centers are being set up at district and Upazila levels across the country. Therefore, the buildings of the Upazila complexes are being expanded upwards. Work is being started from Faridpur Sadar, Shibalaya of Manikganj, Bamna of Barguna, Jessore Sadar and Borhan Uddin of Bhola. Along with other Upazilas, construction of 32 new buildings is progressing simultaneously.
The ICT Department will implement this work with the help of local government under the Digital Connectivity Project. An inter-ministerial meeting was held on Tuesday to start the work. It presented the details of the implementation of the action plan. The meeting was informed that under this project, one lakh 9 thousand 244 end user connectivity, 10 thousand Sheikh Russell digital labs in educational institutions, 10 digital villages for development of agriculture and farming, 555 Joy D-set centers, 57 specialized labs will be set up.
33,300 government employees will get training in e-governance implementation from D-SET centers. Besides, 1 lakh 20 thousand educated unemployed will be trained from here every year. 200 freelancers will be created from the center.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the chief guest at the meeting chaired by NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Department. Local Government Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed was also present as a special guest.
Earlier, on November 23 last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina granted the final approval to the four-year project.
