Alice, the world’s first fully electric passenger plane is ready to fly. And just a few weeks later, the first flight of this aircraft will be operated by Eviation, an Israeli company. The engine was tested last week at Arlington Municipal Airport, north of Seattle, said Omer Bar-Yohay, chief aviation chief.
The US news agency CNN published this information in a report on Tuesday (February 1).
The plane has been built in the same process as the battery technology of an electric car or a cell phone. With just 30 minutes of charging, it will be able to fly 440 nautical miles an hour with nine passengers. At this time the speed of the plane will be 250 kts per hour or 287 miles per hour. A Boeing 737 Max travels at 588 miles per hour. It is expected that such planes will be able to carry 20 to 40 passengers in the next seven to 10 years.
It is learned that the prototype of the plane debuted in 2019. It has been undergoing low-speed taxi testing since last December. But in the next few weeks, it will pass the high-speed taxi test. The various activities of the plane will be reviewed through these tests.
The company wanted to start the flight before 2022. However, bad weather in the northwest of the Pacific Ocean at the end of the year prevented tests.
The company has created three prototype versions of the plane. One is a passenger-plane, the other is an executive version and the third is a cargo version for freight. The passenger plane configures nine passengers and two pilots as well as 850 pounds of cargo.
