The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is paving the Highway of Bangabandhu’s Golden Bengal not limited to 4th or 5th generation networks. Efforts are being made to digitally transform the postal department’s ability to reach the doorsteps of every citizen to create a developed, prosperous and non-discriminatory country through technology. As part of this, the proposal made at the Digital Service Design Lab (DSDL) workshop is a historic milestone in establishing a digital post office. This has laid the foundation for the digitization of productive activities.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar has expressed strong hope that the postal service will be upgraded to its desired level through the implementation of this master plan prepared with the concerned experts including the officials of the postal department. He thanked State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and a2i under the department for this.
This was stated by the chief guest while presenting the final report and development proposal prepared from the DSDL strategy jointly organized by the Department of Posts and a2i Program at the Dak Bhaban Auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Department NM Zeaul Alam, Secretary to the Cabinet Department (Coordination and Reforms) Md. Kamal Hossain and Post Director General of the Department Md. Siraj Uddin spoke in the program.
Farhad Zahid Sheikh, Chief e-Governance strategist, a2i, presented the Digital Post Office master plan and strategy at the event.
The Minister for Posts and Telecommunications expressed his determination to take advantage of the huge opportunity to provide services to the people through the post office. He expressed deep gratitude to the Department of Information and Communication Technology for their assistance in transforming the post offices into digital post offices.
The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has transformed the seeds sown by Bangabandhu from 1996 to 2001 into saplings. In the last 12 years since 2009, it has become a huge tree. However, our digital Bangladesh is not limited to the fourth industrial revolution. Through this, we will establish the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu’s cherished dream by establishing an advanced, non-discriminatory knowledge-based digital equality society using technology.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak shared his emotional connection with the post office. He described the rapid transformation of the digital transformation initiative as the result of a concerted effort.
Emphasizing the need to transform the postal department into a digital post office in a short time, he said 3,000 digital services have been identified in 52 ministries and 394 institutions. Of these, there are 80 important services of the Postal Department. He expressed hope that it would be possible to launch the digital ecosystem soon.
The state minister also said that a law would be enacted soon to ensure the quality of digital services.
Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications Md. Afzal Hossain said in his speech that ‘We are working to digitalize the post office under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the direction of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar. Following this, the master plan and strategy of digital post office has been formulated through workshops’. He expressed hope that the post office would reach new horizons if it is implemented.
