State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak has expressed his intention to celebrate Sheikh Russel Day internationally.
Palak said that Bangabandhu named his youngest son after his favorite writer and philosopher Bertrand Russell. He was hospitable, friendly. We hate everyone who killed a child and who supported it. And on this day, our expectation is that every child in the world will be safe.
He added that the Sheikh Russel Children and Adolescent Council, formed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on February 20, 1989, had been celebrating Sheikh Russel Day on its own initiative. This time the day will be celebrated nationally on the initiative of ICT department. This time I am holding a national program in the embassies of Bangladesh at home and abroad so that children all over the world can grow up safely. But soon this day will be celebrated internationally.
The state minister said this at a press conference on the occasion of Sheikh Russel National Day at ICT Tower on Sunday.
The state minister said the Bangladesh Computer Council and the ICT Department have already set up 8,000 Sheikh Russel Digital Labs across the country to make future children proficient in the technology sector. Besides, the work of establishing School of Future in 300 parliamentary seats will be completed this year. In addition, 13 organizations are working to ensure that not a single child is left on the footpath or homeless and initiatives have been taken to form a ministerial. Similarly, the National Museum will be open for children on October 18. The Department of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth has taken various initiatives to celebrate the day across the country.
On celebrating the day, the ICT department will give away 10 Sheikh Russel Gold Medals and 20 Core i7 laptops of tenth generation. At the same time, the winners of various competitions will be awarded 8,000 Core i5 laptops of the eighth generation through the LEDP project. Of these, 39995 laptops will be provided at the district level.
