This is our time now to create a startup culture as well as a self-reliant digital Bangladesh. We want to solve all the problems we have in e-commerce, health, education and all other fields by using our own entrepreneurs.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed such optimism in his keynote address at the inauguration of Virtual GP Accelerate 3.0 on Thursday.
The state minister said the number of startups in the country has increased in the last few years. Together, all startups have received about $ 500 million in foreign investment in the country. From many countries of the world including Silicon Valley, India, Singapore and Japan. Millions of dollars are being invested in the gaming sector.
Grameenphone CEO Yasir Ajman was also present on the occasion. BetterStories Limited, Lightcastle Partners and Upskill signed an agreement with Grameenphone earlier this year to build the country’s startup ecosystem with the help of ‘Global First’ Bangladeshi startups in the aftermath of the GV Accelerator program. Grameenphone, a leading technology service provider and Digital Bangladesh’s connectivity partner, and its three startups are aiming to find the best startups in the country through 12-month-long program GP Accelerator 3.0 and unleash their potential by providing appropriate resources tailored to the needs of the industry.
Yasir Ajman, Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone, said, “We have come a long way in our commitment to becoming a digital inclusive society. So far in this journey, 44 startups of GP Accelerator have played an important role in assessing the digital needs of the citizens of the country and providing relevant solutions as per their needs. We are hopeful of working with our partners to create an ecosystem that will help unleash the potential of the country’s talented people.”
