Universal QR code and POS based cashless payment system has been launched at Khilgaon Taltala City Corporation Super Market under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). As a result, traders of Khilgaon Taltala City Corporation Super Market can now accept payments with the help of Bangla QR and POS machines. Through this they will be able to involve themselves in formal financial services as well as creating a digital footprint in business activities. At the same time, consumers can also make digital payments quickly and securely by paying with the help of cards, bank apps and MFS wallets.
On Monday, April 29, 2024, in the afternoon, DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam inaugurated the process of incorporating the market into a completely cashless payment system at the Fortune Convention Hall adjacent to Khilgaon Taltala Market.
As chief guest at the program, DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said, ‘Under the leadership of the honorable Prime Minister, we have already been able to build Digital Bangladesh. We have now started activities to build Smart Bangladesh. We, Dhaka North City Corporation, have now brought many services online. Now no one has to visit DNCC office to pay holding tax and get trade license. Citizens are getting this service online at home. The range of online services will be expanded gradually.
Bangladesh Bank’s Director of Payment Systems Md Sharafat Ullah Khan and Mastercard South Asia Chief Operating Officer Vikas Verma, Mastercard Bangladesh Country Manager Syed Mohammad Kamal, DNCC Ward 23 Councilor Md Shakhawat Hossain and Reserved Women Councilor Mitu Akhter were also present at the opening ceremony.
This initiative has been taken jointly by Bangladesh Bank, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and MasterCard and is linked to the government’s Smart Bangladesh vision which will enable 1047 small and large traders to receive money through digital payments.
