A postage stamp is not just a souvenir. It expresses the identity of a country, a nation. Therefore, the post and telecommunication minister, Mustafa Jabbar, emphasized the importance of advancing the hobby of collecting postage stamps, considering that mobile phones have taken over the place of letters. He said, mobile phones have ended the era of sending letters but the days of posts are not over rather got a new dimension. Technology has the potential to give new life by changing conventional methods. The digital transformation has already begun. As a result, you can get information about sending products by mail on your mobile phone. For this, a project has been taken for digital transformation of postal services. The minister said that the digital transformation report of postal services will be published in a few weeks. At the same time, he requested the Philatelic Association of Bangladesh to convert postal tickets into co-curricular activities.
The Minister made this call while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the FIP Sponsorship International Stamp Exhibition which started on the third floor of Chitrasala Bhaban of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
17 countries participated including India, Australia, China, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, USA, Fiji, Malaysia, Singapore and Nepal. On more than two thousand sheets in 400 frames, hundreds of thousands of stamps were displayed on the exhibition. This exhibition will continue till October 2.

Preeti Agarwal of India Post, Hammad Zafar, David Figg of Australia Philatelic Association handed over the memento to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications in the ceremony. The event was moderated by Faizur Rahman, Executive Member of Bangladesh Philatelic Federation.
Bangladesh Philatelic Federation President Shariful Alam presided over the event. Philatelic Jury Board Vice President Roger Tan (Singapore), Tan Chihui (Malaysia) and India Philatelic Association President Rajesh Kumar Bagri were present among others.
Two souvenir sheets from Fiji Post and two from Australia Post were unveiled at the event. Also, the minister inaugurated several postal packages including special envelopes and Memorial cancellers from the Bangladesh Postal Department.
Temporary post offices have been set up by the national postal departments of the four exhibiting countries. In addition, 30 stalls have been arranged to sell various collections.
