Bangladesh is now a member state of Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), the world’s first independent international multilateral organization with the participation of countries like Bahrain, Cyprus, Djibouti, Gambia, Ghana, Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Oman, Nigeria, Rwanda, Morocco and Saudi Arabia. As the second country in South Asia to harness the potential of the digital economy, the Digital B-Diploma joins the world’s nearly 800 million people. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak signed the DCO Charter on Tuesday as a new country to ensure the empowerment of women, youth and entrepreneurs in the digital economy.
On this occasion, Secretary General of Digital Cooperation Organization Mrs. Dima Al Yahia and Policy Advisor of Bangladesh Access to Information-a2i Anir Chowdhury along with related senior officials were present.
Regarding the agreement, the State Minister of Bangladesh said, “Digital Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been established as an exemplary successful instance all over the world today. Joining this alliance has created 4 opportunities for us. As a result, Bangladeshi digital entrepreneurs in 15 member countries have business and investment opportunities in each other’s countries. Besides, Bangladesh will have a stronger role in establishing partnerships in cyber security and will benefit from getting a startup passport.”
Palak expressed optimism that by joining the DCO, the path to the formation of Smart Bangladesh announced by the Prime Minister has made easier.
