The service of the National Identity Card (NID ) server of the Election Commission (EC) has been resumed within the stipulated time after the maintenance work. But not fully activated.
The EC informed the media about the launch of the server on Wednesday (September 20). Election Commission officials said that now NID service is available. It has been activated since this morning. Sometimes it needs maintenance. Due to which the server was shut down.
However, a hacker group claimed to hack EC’s website yesterday. After opening a new website, their claim proved to be very false. But at the time of writing this report, the site was still taking time to open. Although the text was shown, the image was not shown.
Earlier, NID’s servers were shut down for about 38 hours from 12:00 PM on August 14 to prevent cyberattacks.
Before that, the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) in a letter written to the EC about server complications in June last year said that there was an outage on the EC server for half an hour last February, about two hours in March and about 31 and a half hours in May. Even in June they could not enter the server for two days.
According to the updated data of 2022, the number of voters in the country is 11 crore 91 lakh 51 thousand 440. Among them, 6 crore 4 lakh 45 thousand 724 are male and 5 crore 87 lakh 4 thousand 879 are female. There are also data on 837 transgender voters and 1 million Rohingyas.
