BGD e-GOV CIRT under the ICT Division will write to each and every ministry to ensure cyber security. To protect sensitive and important information from cyberattacks, Cyber Security Design Labs will be set up in 29 Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) institutions. At the same time, the Cabinet meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s Office next month under the leadership of the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary.
These decisions were made in the review meeting held in the meeting room of the ICT Division under the leadership of ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Wednesday. These decisions were taken in a meeting to review the activities undertaken by the Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) institutions to strengthen cyber security.
Meanwhile, the state minister called for caution in this regard, stating that the use of pirated software is creating a risk of data theft of various public-private and financial institutions through the existing backdoor.
The meeting discussed various cyber security issues of important information infrastructures, development of ICT manpower structure, increasing allocation in ICT sector, conducting regular IT audits, formation of Security Operation Center (SOC) and Network Operation Center (NOC) and so on.
Besides, a decision was taken to declare 5 more government institutions as Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) considering the volume, importance and data security of data.
The Secretary of ICT Division Md. Shamsul Arefin, Project Director of BGD e-GOV CIRT Md. Saiful Alam Khan, Director General of Digital Security Authority Md. Abu Saeed Kamruzzaman, members of intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies, representatives of important organizations including BRTA, PDB were also present in the meeting.
