Norway’s 12 ministries have been hacked, the country’s government confirmed the matter. The country’s foreign minister conveyed this information in a press conference on Monday. News Reuters.
Norway has appeared as the Europe’s largest gas exporter and Western Europe’s largest oil exporter after Russian gas supplies dwindled. The country’s Prime Minister’s Office, Foreign Affairs, Defense and Law Ministries were spared from the attack as they use different IT platforms.
At the press conference, Eric Hope, head of the service provider for various ministries, said, “We have identified a vulnerability in a platform provided by one of our suppliers. The affected area has been closed.”
The attack is detected by detecting “abnormal” movements on the platform provided by the supplier. The incident first came to notice on July 12 and police are investigating the issue. He said that who was behind this attack or its damage will not be known soon.
It is worth noting that NATO member country Norway has a border with Russia in the Arctic region. The country is aiding Ukraine with weapons, money and humanitarian aid in the Russia -Ukraine war.
