RAB arrested six people, including an engineer, in connection with hacking the server of the technical support organization of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and embezzling crores of taka.
On Sunday night, raids were conducted in various parts of the country, including the capital, and they were arrested. The mastermind of this circle, computer engineer Md. Shahriar and one of his associates Azim, was arrested in the case of embezzlement of government money. The names of the remaining four are not known.
They were arrested from Kafrul, Mirpur and Gazipur areas of the capital on Sunday (21 May). RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Assistant Director ANM Imran Khan confirmed this matter.
According to RAB, more than crores of government money has been fraudulently embezzled in the last one month by collecting money from customers for various activities including change of car ownership, license renewal by hacking the server of the technical support organization of ‘BRTA’. In this incident, the main computer engineer Md. Shahriar and one of his accomplices, Azim, were arrested by RAB-4 from Kafrul, Mirpur and Gazipur Sadar areas of the capital. In this regard, details will be given in a press conference at RAB Media Center in Karwan Bazar on Monday (May 22).
