The government has re-appointed Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, an honest, brave and efficient officer of the administration cadre, as the Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology-NMST for the next one year. According to the order of the President, the Ministry of Public Administration gave him this responsibility on Wednesday.
Munir Chowdhury, a son of Chattogram, has received this extended appointment as a reflection of changing the image of the science museum in the past few years in terms of development, modernization and establishment of good governance. It was under his leadership that the National Museum of Science and Technology received the award for ‘Best Institution’ in the implementation of the Government’s Annual Performance Agreement in the financial year 2019-2020.
Earlier, during his tenure as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), he led anti-corruption operations in various sectors. Then many government officials were arrested and corruption money was recovered.
Munir Chowdhury conducted magisterial operations under various institutions including Chittagong Port, Department of Environment, WASA, Electricity, Food Safety, Department of Sea Transport, BSTI and recovered thousands of crores of government land and assets.
He also played a role for the state in preventing sea, river pollution and adulterated food. While serving as the managing director of the government company Milk Vita, he got international recognition by rooting out corruption and taking the company to a profitable level.
