Nowadays images can be created through artificial intelligence (AI). However, many people are spreading fake information by claiming that these pictures are real. And so, Snapchat will automatically add watermarks to AI-generated photos to identify them.
According to Snapchat, photos created using Dreams and Snap AI tools will display a transparent logo and emoji watermark on the photo. These watermarks can be seen even if the images are saved in the phone’s gallery. As a result, pictures can be easily recognized even if they are posted on Snapchat as well as other social media.
Snapchat says watermarks on photos created with AI tools cannot be removed. If someone edits and removes the photo’s watermark, they are violating Snapchat’s policy. As a result, Snapchat will take action against them. However, the app does not provide any information on how to identify watermarked images.
Last year, Snapchat launched its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered ‘My AI’ chatbot using ChatGPT developed by US technology firm OpenAI. Despite its popularity among users, the UK regulator, the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has raised concerns about the privacy policy of the chatbot.
