In the first six weeks of the year, the sales of Apple’s iPhone fell by 24 percent in China. In contrast, Chinese company Huawei’s sales in the local market increased by 64 percent during the same period.
US tech giants are facing intense competition from local rivals in China, according to research firm Counterpoint.
On the one hand, sales of Huawei’s expensive sets have increased in the Chinese phone market, on the other hand, Apple has to compete with the prices of phones from companies like Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.
China is one of the largest markets of the US-based company. The fall in sales in the country has also affected the sales of Apple products around the world.
From early January to mid-February, sales of Apple products worldwide fell by seven percent during the same period. Under the US ban, Huawei is barred from supplying essential technology and chips for 5G mobile internet.
In this context, after a few years of business disaster, Huawei surprised by releasing a total of sixty series of 5G smartphones in the market last August.
