Minister of State for Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the more the application of technology increases, the more sustainable and desirable the quality of customer service will be. It is important to use customer friendly technology.
He made this comment at the opening ceremony of SCADA system of Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) in Mirpur, Dhaka on Sunday (January 22).
He said that customer problems, needs or complaints should be listened to seriously and the quality of service should be increased with the initiative of solving them quickly. Overall DESCO is doing well but only customers can tell how well they are doing. Service quality can be surveyed. Initiatives should be continued to increase awareness by prioritizing the economical use of electricity and saving electricity.
He emphasized undergrounding electric cables and substations.
SCADA system has been installed at DESCO to monitor and efficiently manage the power network of 69 stations under DESCO’s control from the central control room. Feeder load values will manage load efficiently by automatically collecting load variations over time. As a result 12 lakh customers of DESCO will get better service.
DESCO’s Board of Directors, Additional Secretary of Electricity Division, Md. Nizam Uddin presided over program while , Power Secretary Md. Habibur Rahman, Chairman of Power Development Board Md. Mahbubur Rahman and Managing Director of DESCO Kawsar Amir Ali spoke among others.
