As there have not enough mineral resources in the country; the government is working to build a smart Bangladesh with a talented generation, uninterrupted electricity and high-speed internet. Therefore, the ICT department is providing hands-on training for the youth to build a skilled manpower by combining technology with creativity. As part of this, a Motion Graphics Animation Lab will be set up at Dhaka University Fine Arts at a cost of Tk 6 crore and another Motion Graphics Animation Lab at ICT Tower or in a high-tech park within a few days, informed Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology.
The state minister gave this good news while addressing as a chief guest at the awarding and closing ceremony of skill development of mobile game and application project held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center here on Monday (27 June 2022).
“We will set up this state-of-the-art motion graphics lab to take skills-based education forward, not a certification only,” he said, “Where everyone will have access. Anyone sitting in that lab can create the game of his dreams. From here, the ICT department will provide all possible help to create world-class games so that they can lead the gaming world”.
Quitting “Noting that the gaming industry is now bigger than the Bollywood industry”, Palak further said, As the directives of Prime Minister, the ICT industry is the most important industry for trade diversification to increase the average per capita income to 12k dollars by 2041 by building a smart Bangladesh. Therefore, we have focused on the gaming industry as well as the implementation of skills development projects to generate 5 billion in export revenue and create employment for 3 million young people by 2025. As part of this, we are going to create labs to give mobile games and app developers the opportunity to create world-class games. Under the ICT department, we are taking initiative to make a 10-episode animated film called ‘Khoka’. We have taken a plan to make a game called ‘Muktiyuddha’ also. Meanwhile, we will make an animation film about the 50 years of history of Bangladesh which length would be 50 minutes.
More than 400 mobile app and game developers had present at the event and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed over the crests to 5 of them. Among the certificate holders, 6,000 boys and 2,000 girls were given training on apps and game development at the divisional and district levels across the country. Moreover, a Total of 70 trained youth were appointed among them as an employee on the spot.
Eden College teacher Atiquzzaman, Genex Infosys Director Ayubur Rahman, Search Solutions Executive Director Abu Talib; Nibas Chakraborty from Mars and Hello Group CEO Faisal Ahmed also spoke at the event, which was chaired by Anwarul Islam, Head of Mobile Apps and Games Project, ICT Department.
