The 4th bi-annual election of the E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) is to be held on June 18. To achieve its directorship of the executive body, an electoral panel named `Change Makers Team’ has been formed with 9 members among the initial 36 candidates. The members of this panel officially appeared before the voters and the media at Banai Club On Wednesday night (25 May 2022).
According to the announcement the 9-member panel of The Change Makers for the June 18 election consists of Shafquat Haider (Ciproco Computer), Waseem Alim (BanglaMeds), Md. Tashdik Habib (Cleanforce), Zeeshan Kingshuk Haque (RTS Enterprise), Mozammel Haque Mridha (Kinley.com), Abu Sufian Nilove (NijolCreative), Biplob Ghosh Rahul (eCourier), Ilmul Haque Sajib (Sheba.xyz) and Nusrat Akhtar Lopa (Hur Nusrat).
After the panel’s introduction, the host of the event, Zeeshan Kingshuk Haque informed, that the manifesto would be announced on May 30 in Dhanmondi. He also announced another 9 members including Chaldal.com co-founders Zia Ashraf, Ashrafuzzaman (Virtual Market Solutions Limited), AM Ishtiaq Sarwar (my pay) and Shamsul Islam (Unico Bangladesh) are withdrawing their candidacies.
In this grand event, Change Makers Candidates present their business success stories to the voters one by one and also give details of their qualifications. Nine members of the panel have already been able to invest 50 million in the country’s e-commerce sector as candidates, they said. It has created employment opportunities for at least 6,225 people. They have successfully delivered 27 lakh 85 thousand customer orders.
There are 695 voters in the E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) election. On the evening of the panel meeting, voters and non-voters also expressed their optimism about the future leadership of e-CAB.
Among them, BASIS director and e-cab voter Ahmedul Islam Babu said the election was not a fragmentation process; It is a new way to build. e-CAB is our expectation of good leadership. We hope that with that competent leadership, BASIS will be united in realizing ICT demands and Strengthening constructive leadership thru maintaining unity.
“The e-commerce profession is an embarrassing situation for us now” said Debashish Foni, a businessman who is not a voter. “Hopefully, if one of these panels comes to the forefront, then the next leadership will drive away from the fraud companies of the capital scheme from e-cab”- he added.
Mahmudul Hasan, another e-commerce businessman, said, “I hope that e-commerce ecosystem will return to the realm of honor by freeing from butchers and fraudsters.”
Among voters, Kazi Kawsar Sweet said, e-commerce members do not expect mentorship or investment from a commercial organization. We want the members to be given dignity according to the segmentation. No employee of the secretariat should behave in an unprofessional manner over the phone.
Another businessman, Isitiaque, said voters’ expectations were that preliminary work, including the inclusion of e-commerce in trade licenses, would be done earlier rather than breaking promises.
